Default Bone bruise on Knee and squatting?

    Hello Coach.

So sadly today I hit my knee pretty hard during jiu jitsu training and developed a bone bruise. Very painful (started off being just tender to touch, but now it's hard to walk).

Any experience with this? Can I still try and squat with a good warm up?

    Thanks Coach.

    Regards,
    Mat.

How do you plan on getting to the squat rack without walking?

I can walk, just quite painful xD I can also do a bodyweight squat, though again, quite painful. Don't know much about bone bruises. From what I understand, I don't want to hit that area again, but not sure if squats would do any damage. So was really a question of if trying to squat through the pain was doing any serious damage or not. I konw you're not a doctor Coach, but maybe you had experience with bone bruises and might have some insignt.

Strangely enough, it feels a lot better today, and should not be feeling better so fast. Maybe it's just a bump and I'll be able to squat within a few days.

Can you try? Certainly. Will you succeed? That depends on your pain tolerance and whether it messes up your form too much. Squatting isn't going to make your bruise any worse.

The bad news is that you have not specified the location of the bruise. The knee is a big place, and it is composed of lots of things. The good news is that everything heals except cancer.

A most memorable quote. This is going in my profile. There's few gems there already. My favorite is from Andy Baker:

It seems not to be a bone bruise per say, since the pain has significantly subsided (whereas when I did have a bone bruise a few years ago, it was very painful for weeks). Guess it's just a "I hit my knee hard it hurts" kinda thing XD Was able to squat today thankfully. Life is good again. Thx for responses.
