    Default quick reset question

A week ago before a 5 day vacation I did 290lbx5x3 for squats. When I got back I reset my squat down to 270lbx5x3 Mostly because I had massive pain in my left arm for a few weeks now from gripping error; So I wanted to reset and work on that. Surprisingly the 270lb felt alot heavier than I thought it would. Fast forward to the next heavy squat workout and I did 280lb (10lb jump since it was an "unnecessary" reset). Well I did it 5x,4x (stalled halfway up on 5th),3x(the last sets failure took alot out of me) on this! Very disappointing. I still gained 1.5Lb bodyweight or so in the last week or two. On my next workout should I go back to 275lb or just do 280lb again since I have done it 3 weeks ago and should have been able to do it today.

I know it doesn't really matter that much and I can just experiment to see what works. I just want to see everyone's opinion on what they would do.

First, you can do the 280, but you weren't in your hips so form broke down and made it harder than it should've been. Enjoy the slight reset and go back up to a PR weight in 5lb increments. Focus all your efforts on form during warm up and have a cue for the working sets.

Your biggest issue is that there are some things you need to clean up about your squat.

Set your back at the top. You extend your spine but only right after you start your movement. Take a big breath, squeeze your chest up to set your back, then squeeze your abs. Then go.

Try not to drop into the bottom so much. Stay tighter and cut off several inches of depth.

Go back to 270 lbs, paying attention to those things, and you should finish that weight no problem.

I don't know about all the stuff with the reset. But like pip says, this seems like too much knees for an SS squat. Also seems too dive bomby

Dang guys, I really don't know how to make it more ass and less knees any more. I have had this problem since day one, even when Tom did my first month or so ago. I saw an SSC and he didn't mention anything wrong with my squat other than tightening my upper back a little more, dropping my chest down first, and speeding my ass up. But maybe I've changed again since I saw the SSC. I dont know. I'm sick of resetting. I can't keep adding bodyweight but resetting over and over again haha The rep I missed and the one I struggled with before that one I did dive bomb it a little and have my knees slide forward a little at the bottom. I think thats what caused the failure, and then the failure took alot out of my quads for the enxt set.

The one thing I definitely want to focus on next is that I noticed that I loosen up my core a little at the bottom. On the 1 or 2 reps today that I remembered to keep very tight, I felt alot stronger out the bottom.
