    Default bloody shins and hepatitis?

Should I be worried about shins bleeding and hepatitis? This is the main reason I'm afraid to drag the bar up my shins. I used to not care and let them bleed until I thought of this possibility.

There are these things called socks that work pretty well.

Happens from time to time, second the "cover up" recommendations, read: if you are deadlifting or cleaning, don't wear fucking shorts!

Soccer socks and a cut up 2 litre plastic pop bottle are also an option.

I use the soda bottle method. I get a few funny looks, but I don't care. A few days ago I didn't use them on a warmup and sure enough I got sloppy on the warmup and scraped very lightly on my left shin. No blood, but the skin was definitely peeled off - the size of a pencil eraser.

If you have forgotten your socks swab the bar with alcohol.

I've been pulling for a reasonably long time now, and have never had the bar tear up my shins.

I agree with Carlos. Just don't bleed. Or does it depend on individual anthropometry?
