No.
No.
Yes, the mixed grip is stronger.
Roughly:
Mixed + hook > mixed > hook > underhand =(?) overhand
I don't know anyone who deadlifts with an underhand grip and I've never seen it done. I don't see how underhand could be stronger than overhand.
I may be mistaken, as I've been off of the board for a while (life has gotten in the way), but the UH grip may be useful for Sumos. Other than that, I've never heard/seen of people utilizing it for the DL. Personally, I've starting back through linear progression after a 5-6 month layoff and will milk the OH grip for as long as I can. Once it affects my lifts, I'll switch to the hook grip. I have never utilized the mixed grip, but I believe my DL PR - prior to my layoff - was 385, so that wasn't too worthy of a mixed grip. My 0.02...
Double underhand is a terrible idea.
"wasn't too worthy?" What does that even mean?
My DOH PR is about 150kg (331 lbs). My hook grip PR is about 185kg (408 lbs). My mixed grip PR is 235kg (518 lbs). YMMV.
Don't let some superstition about grip hold back your deadlift. If you normally use overhand, using a mixed grip will make the same weight go up like a rocket!
Underhand sounds like an excellent way to get a biceps tear to me.
Also, Ham, you have five threads on the front page of the training forum right now. Methinks perhaps your training would benefit from some of those "common sense" and "trying it for yourself" things you keep hearing so much about.
There is a video of some girl who owns a crossfit in Virginia who deadlifts double underhand. She's strong for her size, but i wouldnt recommend it.
