    Default update on biceps tendonitis

My older thread is already closed out so I had to start a new one. Basically I went and got a massage. Told the therapist to work on my shoulder/pec area for the bicep inflammation issue. It is still nagging a bit, but not at all like it was.

Anyway, the therapist started digging around in my shoulder which hurt a fair amount, but then started mashing on my bicep and forearm and I almost came off the table. Those two areas are extremely tight and it hurt like hell, ESPECIALLY my forearm.

My question: Is this is a symptom of the bicep tendonitis itself, or rather a contributing cause thereof?

Alas, I have no answers. However, it sounds like massages may be something that will be of use to you going forward.

Was it just your left arm that hurt when massaged?
    Or was it both?

In other words, is there a connection between pain when lifting and pain when massaged? As I recall it was only your left elbow that hurt when lifting.

pain was in both biceps/brachialis, but more in the right. the massage indicated the same... right arm was tighter than the left, but both hurt like hell.

I may or may not have said this in the other thread, but I had a similar issue a few months ago. After squatting or benching, I had severe radiating pain down my left arm that was absolutely debilitating. Every symptom I had said bicep tendinitis, but the actual problem was a badly-strained tricep. Issue completely went away after two massages, daily stretching and moist heating, and ibuprofen. Tendon itself had no issues at all.

Point being--soft tissue strains/excessive tightness can cause all sorts of symptoms that are very similar to tendinitis. I can't recommend sports massages and a moist heat pad enough.
