Hello again coaches, thank you as always for all your time. I have attached a video below from my intensity press day 185 for 2 triples. Additionally, i wanted to attach pictures of lockout with: bar, 95, 135, 185 still shot and me hanging. I was looked at during the seminar but we weren't quite sure what to think. Look forward to your comments. Thanks! (I've never uploaded pics though tapatalk so if it comes out jumbled feel free to delete and I'll find a new way to re-submit)

Your elbows definitely are not coming to full extension in the video. However, at 95, they look reasonable. Does cueing yourself to actively contract your triceps and lock your elbows out at the top help?

Would that be considered a miss in USSF competition?

In addition to what Sensei Tom has said, try thinking about squeezing the bar tight, all the way up and press the bar as though you're never finished at the top. Reach for the sky/ceiling! I've watched some of your other press videos and you can definitely do it.

The reason I mention squeezing the bar is because, I find it's helpful just like at the top of the bench press to prevent the elbows from unlocking, aswell as several other verbal, tactile cues.

Yeah, unless that was full extension for him. Some people's elbows don't fully lock out. If you let the judges know before the lift, you are covered.

Thank you for following along on my other videos. I tried hard below to squeeze hard and reach/shrug high.

Prior to the lift below i tried rolling my lats with a pvc pipe and did this except i had a foam roller between my arms and the wall to push against.

Do these look any better? 187 for 2 triples, this being the second set. Thanks again!

I think there's an argument to be made that what you display there is full lockout for you. Just let the judges know and show them before you press.

What's the anatomical reason for this? Just curious. OP's elbows look pretty straight in the pull up hang, so it shouldn't be the joint literally locking out.

A joint in tension will operate differently than a joint in compression. It is possible that cannot completely straighten his arms under a load, but when hanging from a pullup bar, he can. The reasons someone's elbows may not fully extend are numerous and include both bony and soft tissue explanations.
