Default Grip Position for standard bar

The bar I have is 1830mm (6Ft) long and designed for standard plates with a 26-27mm hole (1") and fitted with spin locks or spin tights whatever you call them. There are no markings for grip placement. The knurling runs out to 330mm (13") from the stops on the ends.
Since I'm not doing power lift competition stuff and do not have the proper bar anyway does it matter where where I grip the bar If I position myself in the center of the bar and place my hands where I feel they should go. Or is there some measurement from where the plates stop to a grip position? If you know what I mean.

Grip for various exercises is dependent on personal anthropometry. The various ways of determining your grip is covered in the book.

Also, get a bar that does not suck.

Ok Thanks, but getting a new bar means changing the plates, and that is not going to happen. The book has the grip according to the marks on the bar on page 20 if want to read it.
