The Bench Press and trainees with a lazy eye
As an individual who has a lazy eye, those of you who may coach trainees with this horrid affliction may enjoy a cue I have to offer to correct a problem with the bench press. My left eye is lazy, in fact, uncorrected it is legally blind. I noticed on my bench press that I have a tenancy to favor my weak side on the bench press; so much so that my strong side actually becomes the "weaker" side and is most times the cause of a failed bench press. I am right handed and have proven on dumbell benches that my right side is indeed stronger. A good cue to correct this is to shift the bar to the left in an exaggerated fashion in my sight picture. This corrects me to a good, parallel bar-to-floor orientation.
