Why does almost everyone on here use pounds to describe the weight and yet on page 49 of SS it is Kg that is the weight class mentioned?

Yes but the weight competition mentioned on page 49 of SS is an American Weightlifting Competition, why would they have a weight class in a unit of measurement not used in their own country?

becuase if Rip didn't use kilograms, the UK threatend to destroy all media related to the "full squat", "deadlift" and "power clean" in the United Kingdom; declare them sacreligious and sinful, and of course - get rid of anyone who threatend to blow the silence on proper training.

Because Olympic weightlifting is governed by the IWF (an international organization) which uses KGs for it's lifts both at Worlds and at the Olympics, thus USAW also uses KGs to make training and competition consistent. Also, the only Powerlifting federation (that I know of) in the USA that uses KGs to score it's lifts is the USAPL which is overseen by the IPF which is also an international organization, the same logic as above applies.

On a related subject, even though I live in Brazil I am more used to talking about lifting stuff in pounds than in kilos.
