I’m sure this has been asked, and yes I tried the search function but I don’t know if it functions on an iPhone like it does a computer. Anyways my question to everyone is what protein powder do you use? I currently use the body fortress brand but I’m concerned about the leucine content after reading some of Dr. Feigenbaum’s articles and listening to a few podcasts. Looking to see what other people in the community go with.
    Thanks!!

Along the same lines, I think I have heard you use the term "protein spiking" in the past and wondered exactly what that means. Also, if spiking is bad, is it possible to discern if a protein supplement has been spiked by reading the label?

If it has high levels of glycine, added taurine, added creatine or glutamine- it probably sucks.

From what I've seen, sometimes yes, sometimes no. As far as I'm concerned, if a protein manufacturer doesn't include details on the label, it's probably for a reason, and I'm not buying their stuff. Same with pre-workouts that have a "proprietary blend." That's code for "don't worry about what's in here, just buy it."

I would further ad to avoid any protein powder claiming "proprietary blend" as part of the ingredient lists. Whey is a simple product.

Any plans to start selling bulk sized whey? I have 3 lifters in the household and that adds up to a whole lotta' containers.

In an attempt at saving Dr. Feigenbaum some time, protein spiking refers to using other nitrogen containing sources or less useful proteins in order to artificially claim a higher protein content than what the "effective" protein content is. This is akin to the "may contain 10% ethanol" label on gas stations. What is being presented as 100% gasoline as far as efficiency is actually 90% gasoline and 10% 'something less useful'. This is what protein manufacturers will do. They will add things that increase the nitrogen values to boast a high protein content from the test but the reality is that the added things won't contribute positively to your goals.
