The problem with using dumbbells for the bench press seems to mainly be difficulty in micro-loading, unless able to find decent magnets.

While using the Texas Method template, would it be reasonable/beneficial to the following as a useful modification (or must it be barbells or dumbbells for everything). . .

(Press not applicable for this specific inquiry, therefore no details.)

    Week 1
Mon: Bench Press (Bar -90% of Friday. 5x5)
    Wed: Press
Fri: Bench Press (Bar - PR, using rep scheme of personal choice.)

    Week 2
    Mon: Press
Wed: Dumbbell Bench Press (80/85%* of last Mon. -rounded to the nearest 5lbs.)
    Fri: Press

*I didn't use the full 90%, since dumbbells will automatically be harder than barbells, as you already know.

I don't have a problem with DBs for the light day, but don't base it off of the bar weight for any day. DBs and BBs don't ever match up. Just do like 3x6 with whatever works for that scheme.
