Default Coming back off of a layoff

I did the program religiously for a year and a half, loved it, and made nice gains. (Height 5'10"; BW 140lbs->195; Squat 3x5 95lbs->320; Press 3x5 65->125; Bench 3x5 115->190; Deadlift 1x5 135->395)

Then, I got soft. I stopped training for the last six months, for no good reason. Now, I am back to training and lifting pathetically light weights (squatting 3x5 135lbs).

My question is: can I cut back on the recovery days at first, while the weights are light? I am thinking of training every other day for 5 sessions in a row. I have just lifted 3 days and would be due for 2 days off in the program, but don't feel like I need two recovery days at this point.

    Thanks, coach.

I often thought about this after I came back from a layoff. Then I realized it's not A Big Deal. You can do it, you can also not do it. Your squat will not be up 50lbs more than if you had done it the regular 3x/wk way. I used the fact that you will have less residual fatigue built up to justify my sticking with 3x/wk despite my higher potential. I'm sure you have other important things to do that can be done on that 4th day. It's not important enough to warrant discussion.
