SS 4x a week?
I'm still a novice and so was wondering what your view is on doing the SS program 4x a week instead of 3. Would it have an impact on recovery? I read somewhere that the 3 day a week routine was made for the purpose of having the weekend free to spend doing other things (family etc). I'm eating at around 4500-5000kcals a day and my squats haven't got to the stage yet where I feel like I couldn't do it 4x a week.

You can certainly try it. Once it gets heavier, you may appreciate the two days off at the end of each week.
