    Default Box squats

    • starting strength seminar august 2024
    • starting strength seminar october 2024
    • starting strength seminar december 2024
    I have two options at my gym. One box is about an inch too high. The other is an inch or two lower than parallel.

    I'm assuming the lower box would be best? I'm substituting front squats for box squats because of tendinitis issues. Yes I already do regular squats. I'm on wendlers simplest strength template. Needing some lighter squats at the end of the week.

    I'd say lower. I use box squats for my lighter squats on Wendler's 531 / boring but big, and I like what they're doing for my form at the bottom. Beware of the soreness, though. Put them somewhere in your week where you'll have a day or two to recover afterward.

    Are you past 3 wheels on the squat already? You'd probably want at least that much practice on your form before adding the riskier box squat.

    bbuszard's comments are strange considering box squat cause almost no soreness at all for me, and for most other people I've talked to.

    Nicely put! Yesterday was squat day and I'm feeling it right now. Probably tainted my reply a bit.
