Recently picked up my first pair after lifting for years in mostly just chucks or some other flat shoe alternative. I've seen people recommend them to fit really tight/snug but i'm slightly concerned mine might be a bit too tight. Fit is fine around the heel, no slipping at all, feels really secure but my toes feel almost a bit too "squashed" in, maybe to the point where they're not able to sit in their normal relaxed position.. Ive heard the shoe might stretch a bit but trying to decide if i should go up maybe 0.5 size, just a bit of a hassle id rather avoid (postage returns etc) if i can.

It depends, really. Which one did you buy?

I went with the adidas powerlift 2, as i'd spotted a good deal with them and just wanted something as an introduction to the style of shoe.

That's funny, I could have written this exact post. As a matter of fact, I did: http://startingstrength.com/resource...-question.html. I've had them (same shoes, adidas powerlift 2.0) for about a month and they are actually more comfortable now, so I think there is either some stretch, or I'm just getting used to them. In any case, snug is better than loose, within reason.

I have these shoes, they don't squash my toes at all, I think your shoes are too small...If you can't return them for free, I would find somewhere that you can go try on half size larger or order from somewhere like amazon that offers free shipping and returns and try a half size or even full size larger.

Overall though after lifting in chucks for a couple weeks, these were amazing, the stability when squatting is awesome.

Useful to hear that they might stretch out a bit. Thanks for the replies.
I'll probably try them on a couple more times and decide if i should exchange them for a 0.5 up or not.

I got a pair a few weeks ago. Same thing, felt much too tight around the forefoot at first but then stretched out and now fit perfectly.

I went and ordered another pair a half size up, jus to e sure. That way i can compare them and i'll just send back which ever i dont decide to go with for a refund. Bit of hassle, but id rather be certain on the fit than slightly unsure.

In terms of lifting shoes, Adidas tends to run narrower than Nikes which runs narrower than Do-Wins. I have hobbit feet, like 8.5-9 EEE, and the Do-Wins were the only ones with a correct fit. What's your shoe size? Buying a bigger shoe of the same model might not be the best solution.
