Default Question for people who do C2 rowing

I did the C2 rower today at 20 secs on, 60 secs off for 5 rounds (HIIT, did as fast as I could on setting 5). I didn't feel exhausted from it. Is that kind of the point for some HIIT conditioning? I did it as fast as I could for the 20 seconds.

I did double check and find out it's probably better to do 20 seconds on, 100 seconds off for 7 rounds. Anyway, not the main question. The main question is... is that particular conditioning setup not suppose to leave you exhausted? I'm guessing if you're lifting, probably not?

I would guess you're not rowing properly or hard enough. Unless you mean you weren't exhausted after you recovered.

What was the pace for 500m? When I first did it I was going at about 1:35 for 500m. When I pushed harder at about a 1:25 pace I was spent after 6 rounds. My conditioning is pretty poor, though, I think.

It wasn't a steady pace for any specific distance. It was a 20 second burst with 60 second rest between, repeated 5 times.

Right, I get that. The C2 displays the instantaneous pace while you're rowing...at least mine does. I'm asking what that number is during the 20 second sprint.

Also, check out this thread: http://startingstrength.com/resource...ad.php?t=43478

Oh, I can't even remember to be honest. I didn't pay too much attention to it. Most of my focus was on form (and doing it as fast as possible with decent form) and the timer. It was only my 2nd time using a C2 and I haven't done enough messin around with it to see what kind of features its got. Thanks for the thread link, though. It's actually a thread I've been looking for.

After reading the thread a bit, yeah I should definitely pay attention to what my pace is. I'll make sure to check when I do it again this Thursday.

Unless you're a genetic freak you were most likely not rowing hard enough or with fast enough stroke. I can do 20s on 100s off at like 1:45 split and like 30 stroke rate and breeze by. IMO you really need to be cranking on that handle. I average stroke rate of 40-46 and <1:25 splits. Feel like death afterwards but then shortly after get really hungry.
As per Jordan's recommendations you should be able to get somewhere near <1:30 splits with strokes over 40

Ive been told on here to aim for 45 strokes per minute. 'S/m' on the c2 display. Ive managed about 41/42 and am nearly coming off the seat.

What friction setting are you using?
