    Rip,

You've probably seen this by now - Max Aita of California strength attempting to squat 5x5 high bar with 260kg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceqG5...layer_embedded

It appears to me that he has more – a lot more – hip drive out of the bottom of his squat than most people do when squatting high bar. If I'm not imagining this, would you attribute his rather impressing squatting strength in part to this? What do you suppose is the mechanism which allows him to use that much hip drive in a high bar squat?

Steve Gough's program is working well. Max's back is strong enough to tolerate the angle and longer segment length along the back to enable the hip drive necessary for this weight. He'd squat more weight low-back. Impressive set, but I see no point in squatting this way, as I've discussed many times.

Is Max Aita the world strongest hipster? Maybe his strength comes from fitting those legs in skinny jeans.
