    Default Squat bar path

    Mr. Rippetoe,

After reading the book, watching the DVD, and learning on this forum, I thought I was progressing pretty well on my squat. Then I decided to re-video myself after missing 200 lbs (did 1X5, 1X4, and 1X3 on two consecutive workouts). My form was AWFUL and clearly had broken down at some point. I de-loaded to 185 lbs and was hoping you could comment on the videos below. One glaring issue is that the bar path is not straight. It's almost straight on some reps.

My guess is that this is an issue of posterior chain strength, and I probably got greedy. I am thinking that I need to deload more and work on posterior chain strength.

Also, as an aside - I'm just a schmuck who's been weak for most of his life trying to get strong. Are your seminars mostly for coaches? I am thinking that one seminar would fix all of my form problems.

    Thanks for your advice.

You're just trying to stay a little too vertical in the back angle. The seminar is always attended by about 50% coaches and 50% people just trying to improve their own training.

I will set my back better and "sit back" more.

    Thanks much.
