    Default Press PR!

Hit 170 for 3x5 tonight. This was a big PR for me after months of battling an injury to my right shoulder that wasn't even lifting related. My previous personal best was 165 for 3x5 nearly a year ago. I'll have a video up in a couple days.

Anyone else got a press PR lately?

Nice! I had a nice and easy deload week prior to switching to TM on presses a few weeks ago. Was only in the gym for two days, and both days did intensity stuff to help gauge where I was. Hit 175x5 and 180x3. Made me very happy.

Nice stuff guys! My previous best single was 205. I'm hoping to reach that for working sets here in the next few months.

Unless you're benching in excess of 250 for 3x5 you will probably have a mediocre press. Seems to me the best way to improve your press is to work the bench hard (since it is the squat of the upperbody) and then come back to the press to realise those gains from improved upperbody strength. Of course no one is silly enough to do this except for me, but whatever. I'm looking forward to taking my bench from 3x5 75 to 3x5 100kg this year and my press should go along for the ride without any special provocation. For reference i'm around 3x5 57.5kg atm.

This thread is about press PRs, not how you think you should go about upping your press. But good luck.

3x5x130lbs. It took me about a year to add 15lbs to get to this but I'm trying things a little smarter now. I just have to get smarter faster than I'm getting older.
