I had been "squatting the bar up" for the past 7 months, and it wasn't really apparent as a problem until 2 weeks ago when i was on 3x1 deadlift with texas method and i started developing gigantic bruises on my shins that became a limiting factor. the intensity this whole week was 50% because i ended up failing my deadlift warmup last friday and decided it might be time for a deload, in which case i may as well reset and try to get my form down

previously I would lower my ass down to where it was touching my heels and then basically squat the bar up, which tore my knees and shins up. i later looked online and saw that my hips shouldn't be nearly that low, and my knees should be at a slighter bend, but i'm not sure if i went too far in the other direction

.. and sorry for now showing the set up.. he didn't press record until right before i started my first rep, and i didn't catch it until i uploaded it to youtube

\it looked like it was in the middle when i was doing them - even closer to my heel if anything - but yeah looking at the video i see that it is a lot closer to the toes than i thought

It looks like the bar isn't touching your legs and your lower back is rounded. Maybe stand a touch closer to the bar and make sure you set your back?

Yup. The bar starts above your toes and as it goes up it doesn't come close to touching your shins. Indeed your back is rounded. Read the section on DL in the book. It will show you how they are to be done.

These exhibit pretty much 0 of the steps we like to see in the deadlift setup. I'd call a total do-over, if I were you. Try them our way:

Is the floor squishing beneath your feet? It looks like it a few times here. Weird. Don't deadlift in a bounce house.
