    Interesting. In the photo of Bob Peoples, he's DL-ing 700-odd pounds, a record DL according to the caption, with a double overhand grip. Also interesting is that the floor appears to be some kind of rather soft mats, as his feet look to be indented a good inch into them. I am assuming the latter was due to bumper plates perhaps not having been invented yet? Or not being widely available? The grip thing seems odd, though. Anyone who knows more about this sort of thing have any insight there?

    As far as the double overhand, I'm sure you've heard of the hook grip. Check it out.

    Yeah, I've heard of it, and that's what I DL with. I was just under the impression that it was pretty much a given that at some point a person switched to the mixed grip. That guy's hands must've been strong as hell!
