Default Squat: Bar moving on back.

    Hey Rip,

I've been having trouble keeping the bar in position during my heavy squats. It seems to inch up my back near the bottom and try to roll back down to the scapular spine as I ascend. My hands also widen during the lift. It doesn't happen during my warmups, even the heaviest ones. Last week I did a max rep set at 315 and had no trouble - in fact, on that day I felt more solid with regard to bar position than I ever had before. Today was supposed to be 375x5x5 and during the first set the damn bar just wouldn't quit moving and I couldn't keep my hands in place.

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

The bar is a bit high when you take it out, and you are not keeping your chest and elbows up, and probably your chin down as well. Video?

The shirt. I had assumed that. You do chalk your shirt, right?

Yes, I chalk my shirt and hands. I do have a tendency to pull my head back which I have been working to correct. I will video my intensity day this Friday and post it. Thanks!

I guess I should note - it doesn't feel as if the bar is "slipping," it feels more like it's changing positions under control, but in a subconscious sort of way, i.e. I am moving the bar myself, even though I'm telling myself not to. Maybe it's just a cuing thing.
