Default Squats and Fatigue for Novice

    Hello Rip,
thanks for providing this forum so we have a chance to ask you questions directly.

I have just started the SS program (I started a log also, which is here: link
and on just my second workout ran into a problem.

I squatted on Monday 230 lbs, I had no problem doing the sets, well, they were hard and the last set was a grind, but a good kind of grind. When I went to workout on Wednesday, I was unable to do my set, even with a lighter weight of 225, because my legs were still fatigued from Monday's workout. (I felt an overwork pain in my quads and cramps in my hips).

Some things I realized may have influenced my fatigue:
    1. I did sprints on Sunday (20 mins of sprint-jogs), which I plan on cutting out for at least a month+ while getting used to the program
    2. On Monday, I did 3 sets of Deadlifts instead of 1
    3. On Tuesday, I got bored after studying all day and ran a mile

Do you think my fatigue was a result of those 3, or a result of Monday's squats? I am wondering if by cutting out my interval training and all cardio, and doing the DL's properly for 1 set I will be able to squat 3 times a week, but I am unsure if I will still be able to squat "heavy" 3x a week. Should I try a light day on Wednesdays (ala advanced novice) to give more recovery time to my legs?

    Stats:
    Age: 23
    Height: 6'0
    Weight: 173

    Thanks again.

Have you read anything I've ever written on this subject?

Dear OP with the strange name,

You need to DO THE PROGRAM. This means not adding shit that is not in the program and eating as according to THE PROGRAM.

If I was a famous-in-the-industry strength coach who wrote the book on strength training for novices I might've said something along the lines of:

not being congruent. Or another suitably impressive SAT-word-riddled sentence. But (sadly) I'm not. So sorry I can't help you.

Thanks for the comments guys (though not the sarcasm). So the best thing to do would be to follow the SS program to a tee and see what happens without the non-program factors. I'll post the results after Wednesday's workout. I was obviously a little too excited to start the program and didn't pay close attention to the reduced number of sets for the Deadlifts (I did do 1x5 Wed and Fri last week). I'm skipping all conditioning work also (no sprints today).

To the Carioca, I have a pretty good diet already.

This probably won't be approved, but what the fuck is up with this weird internet attitude I've been seeing lately? Some jackass doesn't read or research any of his shit, and then when we get em' good, he gets offended and acts like this is the fucking gentlemen's circle.

I DON'T APPRECIATE YOUR RUDE TUDE, FELLAS, I JUST WANTED YOU TO GIVE THE ANSWERS TO A QUESTION ON A TOPIC THAT'S BEEN BEATEN TO DEATH.

You aren't supposed to be doing Deadlifts every workout.

    Simple:

    SQUAT
    BENCH
    DEADLIFT

    SQUAT
    PRESS
    CLEAN

Alternate these two sets if exercises every other workout.
