Been planning to start SS, but a surgery's delayed me to late November. I have some experience lifting but am not a coach or kinesiology major or anything in any regard and would expect to submit to a lot of form checks as I get started.

I do live in Lawton though, and am thinking about going to the next seminar in Wichita Falls, but it seems like primarily something for people to learn how to train others. But if that's not an issue, the opportunity to get direct lifting coaching is too good to pass up, especially since I expect to have some form issues at first from my height (6'7" here). That, and Lawton's gyms are shit.

    Would you recommend attendance?

At least half of the attendees at every seminar are not coaches. They are lifters interested in improving their own training and gaining a thorough understanding of the method. When you come, be in shape so that you can get the most out of the experience.

It is in the sense that you're expected to coach a lifter through the lifts and the fact they cover programming (at least that's what I took away from it). What I really enjoyed was the lecturing by Rip and the other coaches. It was really something to see why the lifts are in the program and why we lift the way SSBT recommends. I realize that's in the book too, but the lectures really helped eliminate some of the points I wasn't so sure about in the book. It really made everything make sense. I took it because I was selfish and wanted to be coached by Rip and other SS coaches. Not only did I get that, but I got the chance to coach lifters and get tips on how to coach from experienced coaches. That alone has helped me breakdown film on my own lifts.

That was a large reason on why I attended the seminar. You'll also meet some amazing people from all sorts of different walks of life with a common interest. If you're lucky, maybe Rip will take off his shirt at supper again (haha). I do recommend going to supper with everyone and sticking around for the Q&A on Sunday. It really shows who's committed and who isn't.
