Working around shoulder injury
I haven't been able to get my bench up past 170lbs due to some kind of misalignment/injury in my left shoulder....both my shoulders sit differently. The right side of my body is smaller due to some nerve impingement in the thoracic region...this rarely causes pain and when it does i ease off..due to this the muscles on this side are someone disproportionate.
So I am unsure what happened to my left but it will cause some pain and pop during military presses (on the way down if I dont perfom STRICT) and benching. Im not going in over my head on the lifts...Im focusing on proper form..I have been able to go up in MPing but not Benching. My left shoulder ends up getting tweaked and I have to slow down.
So I am wondering...how can I attack the check and shoulders in a different way to maybe get them strong enough to handle heavy weight for 5 reps, without pain? because it is not working this way.
Thanks
Zach

We'd need to see a video of you to discuss technique. If you have a neurological injury, this will get better very slowly, if at all. How tall are you, what do you weigh, how old are you, and what do you squat for 3 sets of five? Not your best 3x5, either. What could you squat in the next day or two for 3x5?
