Default Squat form check. Patellofemoral pain

As the title suggests, I recently had to take about a month off because of patellofemoral pain in my right knee. As I understand it, that's a problem with form.

This is my second week back into SS, and wanted to get some critique and ask if anyone sees anything that would, down the line, lead to more knee pain.

    Hi Andrew,

I'm sure a very specific answer to your knee pain would make you very happy, but I can't find one. I like the destination of your knees just in front of the toes. You could afford to get them there just a tiny bit sooner in the descent, but that's the only real criticism I can make related to your knee issue. Consider anything else that could have been the culprit.

I'm assuming these are post-layoff squats, so they're probably a good deal lighter than your work sets at the time of the pain. Perhaps as you slowly work back up in weight, you can show us another video and we'll see if any bad habits have been sneaking up on you as the bar gets heavier.

Thanks for the response. I'll keep doing what I'm doing while working on setting my knees sooner. Hopefully the knee pain just doesn't come back at all, but I'll keep periodically filming my sets to make sure my form is intact.

Roger that. Could very well be unrelated to squatting, or related to a technique issue that only showed up when the weights got close to your 5RM. That's when major focus comes into play. But hopefully it's fluke-like and you can linearly progress from here forward.
