Reading practical programming I find speed lifts (including speed deadlifts) prescribed to reduce grind/wear and tear on the "intensity" days of the TM. Elsewhere I have found recommendations that speed pulls be used in addition to intensity days for DL, to allow for extra volume.
But elsewhere in this forum (see, I did search before posting haha) Rip states that he thinks cleans work better.
I pull sumo and find myself grinding through reps. I want more volume to help assist and/or push the DL forward. Would cleans have much carryover to pulling sumo? Or because of the different stance would speed sumo deads be more applicable?

If you insist on pulling sumo, why not use the Real Deadlift as an assistance. I'm sure if you get your deadlift up, your sumo will increase as well. The other way around the effect is much less.
And this should tell you everything you need to know.
Thank you mark and tiedemies, interesting idea to incorporate conventional DL as an "assistance" and see what letting it get stronger does for my sumo. I'm betting that your thought process is that it will eventually replace the sumo?
I had chosen sumo because for my leverages and mobility sumo allows me to keep my shins straightest and have the shortest, straightest bar path.
You chose sumo because you had no coaching on proper conventional deadlifting.

You will always "grind" through work set reps.
"Easy has never worked" a plump and wise man once said. If you're grinding out 200lb, though, I'd keep searching on the forum cos "that shit wack, yo".
These days I see a lot of people pulling sumo. I stumbled upon a meet last weekend. I have a pretty good gym at my university where I work, and the students there have meets every now and then. I don't know exactly what it was but young people doing RAW powerlifting from what I can tell. So, I hung out to see some of the lifts when it came to DL. Women seemed to be pulling sumo more often, but definitely more than half of them were doing conventional there. These are young kids, in their early twenties, so I guess they represent the future of powerlifting in a way. I guess there is hope that the Sumo will not completely overtake the conventional.
