You know how when you unrack the bar for a new PR squat it seems to pin you to the ground and dig into your shoulder blades?

So why not add 20-30 lbs to your PR, unrack the bar and just hold it there for 30secs x3, after your work set or on light day.

Anyone tried this before? Could it be a good idea?

I haven't gotten that since I added 2 x 90% working weight to the warm up sets. It makes the jump to working weight less drastic.

They call these "walk outs" ...
Power lifters do them, just load up more than your max, and walk it out of the rack and hold it.

Olympic lifters sometimes will do front squat static holds, same idea....

As Mbasic stated, this isn't a particularly new idea. Walk-outs have been around for a long time.

Walk-out holds are as old as dirt.

It is okay. That can still happen. Tack on some of the following words and you can still profit:

    functional
    tactical
    spec-op
    neuro-endocrine

Write a piece on a sketchy site entitled, "The One Weird Trick that is Holding You Back from Squatting 300 kg" and sell a 15-page e-book for $89 and this thing could have legs. Your early retirement awaits.

If you can find a way to use "encrypted" in there, too, the sky is the limit.
