I'm 26 yo 270lbs and my bench is at 115kg for one set of 5.
I can't lock in a routine for bench, I tried buckeye bench, and that killed my bench.
right now i'm just trying to do the same weight but increase the number of sets over the week. I only press when the spirit moves me

    Why don't you try

3x5 @ a weight that allows you to complete all sets and reps

Then 3x5 1kilo heavier 48hrs later. Have you tried this?

yes I keep going through linear progression and then I fuck up the transition to intermediate. I've done this several times.

Ok, so you have done LP. good. What does your transition look like? Because going from training every 48-72hours then doing what you describe above (training every 24hours x3 then 48 hours later) is a drastic change. In general you want to make little changes over time to your training in order to asses the outcome of that change more accurately.

Post your last two weeks of novice lp and your transition strategy.

    mon 111kg 4 sets of 5 wed 112.5 4 sets of 5 fri 115 3 sets of 5

mon overhead press wed 117.5 one set of 5 and 4 fri 120 for a set of 4 and 3

I tried buckeye bench after this, and I got super weak and ditched it after about three weeks. went down to 110kg for 2 sets of 5. I just did 115kg for 1 set of 5
my next plan was to go hlm with three different intensities. but I don't know

this is not the novice LP.

You need to go back and do NOVICE LP AS OUTLINED IN THE BOOK. I will not retype it for you here.

I am glad this has been informative. My blood pressure, not so much.

Just do me a favor. Post again in 4 weeks or more and let me know how you are doing. That will make me have all the warm fuzzy feels.
