Barbell Basics | Mark Rippetoe
Unless you are an Olympic lifter, and maybe not even then, you don't need a bearing bar.
Hi,
i have difficulties to find the correct bar for my need.
Is it better to buy a bronze bushing bar or a needle bearing bar for SQ, BP, OVHP, DL and PC?
Also, is it really necessary to have a center knurl?
Thx for any advise.
PS i do live in Germany.
I don't really know which brand to choose.

Thanks.
Good to know.
Well, i don't want to spend 400€ for a Rouge bar (with tax, shipping, from RougeEurope in Belgium) but i can't find a proper alternative in the internet.
It seems only American brands build proper bars.
I do barbell training for almost 2 years now with a cheap 30mm bar, because i didn't know if i'd keep doing this workout.
But it worked pretty well for me and now i want to buy some proper equipment.
My rack and bench is good.
So, i have to buy a new bell and weights.
What do you think about brass bushings?
Bushings are just fine. Oil them twice a year.
Okay.
What do you think about the following specs:
Suprfit Warrior Elite Bar:

50 mm

Max 680kg
Max Back Squats, Deadlifts: 400kg

2 x Suprfit Bumper Plate Black 5 kg
2 x Suprfit Bumper Plate Black 10 kg
2 x Suprfit Bumper Plate Black 20 kg
+ normal cast iron plates.
It looks delicious.
Yes.
No whipping
Explain your theory on whippiness.
Well,
i ended up buying the ROGUE Ohio Power Bar.
The B&R bar is not available in Europe, so i've chosen the Ohio bar.
I think it's a pretty good deal for 394€ (incl. shipping!)
Only thing i miss is the Olympic WL mark.
It has 205K PSI, that's what i meant with ,,no whip".
Of course every bar has some whippines with a heavy load.
Btw, i didn't do the SS program the last 2 years.
I did a program from a German guy called WKM in the forums.
Day A: SQ, BP, BB ROW
Day B: DL, PRESS, Chin- UPS
It worked pretty well for me.
It was a coincidence when i discover the SS program.
I searched for shoulder impingement at google.
Well, i ended up buying the SS book and now a new bar and plates.
I know it will bring me to another level and i'm very happy to do the program now.
Only thing i don't know is how to deal with my shoulders.
Doc told me, i have impingement.
It comes from my back, or so.
I should rest for a week, do some stretching and start the following week with less weight and more reps.
