Opinion | The Myth of Testosterone - The New York Times

This thing has so many problems that it's difficult to know where to start. But let's take a stab at it, shall we?

First of all: in fairness to the Times, this is an op-ed, and the comments section isn’t having it (lord help us if online comments are becoming the voice of reason).

A glance at this 2004 study they cite, or even a glance at their description of it, shows how clearly they are misinterpreting at. A better summary would probably be that cyclists are better than weightlifters at activities that cyclists train for, and they also have endocrine dysfunction because of their training.

My question is why these people are not arguing for the removal of testosterone as a PED in general if it doesn't matter.

Vitor Belfort had to retire from the UFC after they removed TRT as an option for fighters. His physique and performance noticeably declined.

All over the internet you can listen to athletes, bodybuilders and people with low T speak about the wonders of TRT.

There's a podcast clip on youtube where former UFC champ Matt Sera talks about his experience supplementing testosterone. "It gives you more energy, it's like the fountain of youth"

Hey maybe this will be the start of breaking down all sports divisions. Let everyone supplement as much as they want with anything they want and let's see what they can do.

It smacks of making the trans athletes an OK thing. Because if testosterone doesn't matter, gender dysphoria and the attendant dissonance in competitive athletics become irrelevant.

It's all part of the marketing campaign for the latest round of deconstruction.

"Putting your dick in the meat grinder has so many problems, is stupid and painful and unlikely to lead to anmythign positive. But let's take a stab at it, shall we?"

No thanks, Rip. I did read the headline and quickly concluded the rest of the article will be poopytalk. Making fun of the NY Times is fun, but watching them torture Science(!) in the name of their spurious agenda is painful. Like sticking your dick in a meatgrinder.

The NYT didn't torture the science. The authors of the book they are trying to sell did that, along with the authors of the paper they cited. Your stress has been showing recently. You should try reading more carefully before typing hyperbolic shit on this board. Just some friendly advice.

Exactly how I described it on another forum. The radical feminists have eventually brought reality crashing through their doors.

"The study analyzed testosterone and different types of strength among men who were elite amateur weight lifters and cyclists or physically fit non-athletes."

    "Different types of strength"
    "Elite amateur weight lifters"

We just don't even care that words have meanings anymore, do we?

Andrew, it’s the New York Times; that ship sailed long ago.
