Why do I need a platform for squats?

Well, you need a platform for deadlifts and cleans, and you might as well do your squats on it too.

You don't need to do squats or even lift weights, but if you're going to do something, you should do it right and well. A platform makes for a flat and rigid surface to squat against.

My concrete floor is both flat and rigid for squats.

I made a reduced-area platform for deadlifts and cleans that works fine.

I just wondered if there was something inherently bad about concrete only for squats.

I still might upgrade my platform to 8'x8' some day.

    Thanks
