Ya know, I started to get all upset about this, but then I just rechecked the election results.

True, but as a liberal elitist, I'm trying to be better than you uneducated reactionaries. Hmm, maybe I should petition for a shoulder stretching subsidy to make it easier to squat and work on my hip drive, maybe create entities we could donate pre-tax dollars to. Heck, we could even give it a cute name like the Shoulder & Hip Integrity Trust! With an easy to remember acronym of....OK, maybe that's not a good idea....

FTR, I'm scheduled to work out with a co-worker tomorrow at the gym he's been going to. Now to get back in the groove and arrange coaching session(s) again.

Also, knock on wood, but maybe by March this whole "finding a gym" thing will become a moot point.

And in all seriousness, thanks for the encouragement, it is truly appreciated, you crazy bastard who owes me liquor.

My wife (Squat Queen) and I try to train together and, when life intervenes, we have to scramble to get our work in, if you know what I mean. I just wanted to write to say, keep it up and good luck at your next meet!
FWIW, your wife is one of the sources inspiring my wife to get up and lift. You two are very fortunate to have each other, and you both rock and rock hard.

And I need to change my priorities so that I arrange my other parts of my life around the training, rather than vice versa. Thanks for encouragement, it'll happen. Right now I want to get other stuff settled so that my wife can get fully on board.

BAM! Bitch slapped by a Lib. Of course, could it be any different?

It would work. All you had to do was prove, no, just mention that you were thinking of giving money to the Socialist who won and like Solyndra, you can get a 1/2 Billion! Then fold it up and retire laughing at all of us little folks all the way to the bank like the rest of their friends!

I hope it all works out for you, Sink. I really do.

I do owe you! And last Saturday when the wife and a couple friends of ours went down to Oregon to buy booze and eat at a favorite Steak House, when I was packing our haul of booty, argh..(actually the first trip of about 3...) out to the truck I was thinking of our bet and what I could have bought you. Rest assured, though I am a reformed (Govt reeducational camp) Conservative, I still plan to make good on our bet!

Was it Ringside? That's probably my favorite steak house in Portland. And their onion rings are to die for, as well. Damn, I'm really missing the PNW these days...

You buy the booze, I'll buy the food. Remember, now you're ENTITLED to some of my stuff!

I just want you to know I am going to eat off your plate too. Order something I like. In fact, I should have input as to what you order to make sure I like it too.

Sync, I'm glad to see you are still hanging out here even thought you don't have a gym and otherwise have a bunch of "life" stuff to sort out. However, be aware that I am still puttering along (as Oldster is wont to say!) and will be gaining on you as you while away your time. Better get cracking after the first of the year if you don't want the old guys to KICK YOUR BUTT! ;-)

    Default Back at it

Don't even THINK of passing me, Gene! I'm BACK ATCHA!!

Well, anyway, thanks to a very kind co-worker (who as reported awhile back has also started SS), I was his "guest" today at the globo-gym he's a member of. Took it easy but got a full session in.

Warmup- about 8 minutes on an elliptical. No rowers. Probably shoulda biked instead. Then about 10 presses with the empty bar and a couple air squats.

    Squat- 45x5x2, 75x5, 95x3, 115x2, 135x1, 135x5x3

My co-worker did 150 for his worksets. I was thinking about going higher, but my 1 rep at 135 felt a little tough so I just stuck to that for my first time in three weeks. Once those competitive juices get flowing it's tough to ratchet it down. I'll note that this was less than the 145 I did 3 weeks ago, so I may still be a pussy.

    Then for the Press: 45x5x2, 65x5, 80x3, 90x2, 100x5x3

Last time I pressed was....uh, November 11, and that was only 45 and 65. It went up and down pretty easy. Yes, I can press 100 no probs after not doing it seriously since the meet a month ago, but a 135 squat is kinda difficult. DON'T GET ME STARTED!!!

Co-worker only pressed 90 today, although he might have been able to go higher...but then, I could've as well. I'm shutting up now before I start bitching about my squat again. Not to mention co-worker's ability to properly grip the bar for the squat...OK, I'm shutting up.

    Deadlift - 95x5, 135x4, 165x3, 185x2, 205x5

I kinda tweaked my back a bit early on (obviously not the weight, must've been my set up), but it was very minor. It went up and down pretty easy, but lemme tell ya, those damn octagonal plates are a pain in the ass!

Co-worker did 135. His comment to me - "you suck!" I then pointed out that he out-squatted me. But let's not talk about my squat, OK? Let's just NOT TALK ABOUT MY DAMN SQUAT!

BTW, re-reading that last paragraph, it sounds a little weird.

Anyway, we're on to train again on Thursday (although I have to make sure my schedule works for that, I think it does). But I'm back in the saddle, at least for now, although for the next couple months I'm just looking to maintain and improve form as we do some Life stuff.

Oh, and spouse did some cardio today at the fitness center at my office building (they don't have barbells there, sadly), so very soon now she may be lifting as well.

It's all good, seriously. Even the "bad" bits are OK.

Great work, Synch! Especially the press after not having done it for so long. It's amazing how great it feels to get into the gym, even when life is tossing so much crap at you. The lifting becomes a way of putting things in perspective.

    starting strength coach development program
Thursday is off as I have kidlet, and co-worker is busy Friday evening (no surprise). However, I have Friday off from job, as does my wife, so one of the things we'll do that day is stop by that gym and see about membership stuff, so we'll be on after that. Some scheduling stuff to work out, but we can make it happen. And if we can arrange coaching for her she can go on some of her off days and get that, which would be way cool.

And idiot that I am, my wife could be pressing in our apartment RIGHT NOW. We have a training bar, we have some weights, she could do some basic low weight stuff any time. Because it's not like I didn't already know this....sheesh, did someone drop a bumper plate on my head when I was young or something?
