Sorry, I just read your comment.

Regarding the missing weeks; I‘ll post an Update right after this posting.

To answer your question why I deadlift every workout,…. I still consider myself a Beginner. Therefore I‘m just trying to follow the NLP as best as I can. But,… wait for my next Postings in underneath this.

November 1st is a holiday in germany, on which you remember the deceased. We visited my wifes family and paid our tribute to their parents graves. Therefore no Training that day.

On October 31st I woke up with a small aching point underneath the left ribs. I thought, I fucked up while pushing something away at work. I supported my left arm on my ribcage while doing it. As it didn‘t hurt that much, I continued with Training. (Narrator; he didn‘t knew it, but it was at this Point, that he started to fuck up.)

    Week 45

    11/06/2023

    Squat 100,0 kg / 220 lbs 5/5/5
    Bench 64,0 kg / 141 lbs 5/5/5
    Deadlift 115,0 kg / 253 lbs 5

Left side felt a bit off. Idiot me decided to train anyway. As I was up to me previous PR in all three Lifts of the day, I was a bit too motivated, I guess.
I knew directly after finishing the Training, that I fucked up big time. Again. I think, I strained the muscles on the left side of my ribs. They hurt when I brace myself like I would do during a Lift. They also hurt while coughing, sneezing, or when I take just a deep breath.
This time it‘s not because of the belt. I think, maybe I progressed too fast. I know that I‘m not moving serious wheights. But it‘s the only reason I can come up with. All of my abdominal muscles were sore for two days after this Training. I think, maybe, I progressed both main lifts faster than the „supporting“ muscles could adapt as well.

I could kick myself in the balls all day, everyday. This time I will wait not only until it doesn‘t hurt anymore. I‘ll wait, until I don‘t feel anything off on that side. Until then, I‘ll read the Barbell Prescription. I‘m 45. Maybe I need to modify the NLP.

As I just thought about this, which might be confusing…. as I basically just copy my analog Training Log by posting in this thread,… the noted Weeks are calendar weeks, not weeks of training.

Just to keep this up to date,…. I‘ve been sick more or less on and off since my last posting in this thread. Most annoying flu I ever had in my life. One day I cough up my Soul, every bone hurts,… the next day I‘m almost back to normal. And the next day it starts again. I‘m exhausted after walking up a single flight of stairs. No fever until now, Lungs free. My normal procedure (throat starts to be sore, I make a „tea“,…. juice of half a lemon, honey, hot water, plenty of Rum) didn‘t work.

Hey Defcor. I'm at about the same place in NLP as you but about 10 years older. Hope you feel better soon. I too am slowing down my "big lifts" due to advancing more quickly than is prudent. I messed up and exhaled some on a heavy squat last week and tweaked my back. I'm still coming back from that. Hope your flu helps your muscles rest enough to continue on with NLP.

    Thank you very much.

I‘m still sick. Strangest flu I‘ve ever had. One day I‘m almost back to normal,… then, the next morning, the throat is sore again, or the sinuses are blocked, or everything hurts,…..
I even did a Covid Test,….I mean,… I don‘t care what‘s the name of my flu, but my Doc suggested it. Negative. Blood test was absolutely ok,… So… I just wait for it to be over.

Check out my log for a list of the phases you go through with the NLP. I would guess you should have/should still be making larger jumps on your deadlift and keep the 2.5kg jumps on the squat. This would allow your DL to get up high enough that you're continuing to strengthen the posterior chain so that it can contribute to stronger squatting. As far as I've seen for most logs as well as in Practical Programming, it seems that the SBD/SPD workouts should span 2-3 weeks (with bigger jumps on the DL and smaller for the SQ) before switching to Power Cleans alternating in with the DL. If you check out my log a few posts back I detailed the phases you go through for the NLP i picked up from the Seminar last February.

On the topic of upper respiratory stuff, I've had my ass kicked the last week as well. Sorry to hear you're dealing with that. Hoping yours clears before too much longer.
