Puts you im a favorable position for the second pull -- where things really count.

That is a claim, not a reason. I will help you:

    1. Explain what this more favorable position is.
    2. Explain why the position is more favorable.
    3. Explain why the same position cannot be obtained with the starting position advocated by this method.

Here's another go at 155 lbs (last two sets of 3 w/ a slow mo of last rep of each). I'm working on getting my hips to full extension, but I'm not sure I'm there on all the reps. Also, I don't rack it cleanly on my last rep. Anything else you guys notice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Oh yeah, and I can see on these vids that I'm yanking the bar off the ground in a way that's probably not efficient.

Yes, you do. Don't. Slowly take slack out of the bar by pushing floor out of you until the BB clears the floor, and only then start to accelerate.

For catch, try to delay standing up. It looks like you are already moving up when you didn't yet entirely catch the bar, and then you meet it hard on your way up. To feel the right move, try to squat a bit after you've caught the bar, yielding to bar pressure, and only then stand up.

I don't know what FlimFlam is talking about. I pull power cleans with the exact same set up as a deadlift except for a wider grip due to my arm length and since I started doing that properly, my gains have been moving at a very steady rate.
