Using 235lbs in this video which is heavy enough to keep the bar over my midfoot. However my squat still doesn't feel right and I noticed that my knee flexion was pretty similar with and without lifting shoes on which I found interesting.

Hey there Vover!
You have a tendency to descend too upright. You need to get more bent over. Think about pointing your nipples at the floor and sitting back into the bottom, rather than sitting straight down. This back angle error is probably why you had issues with knee slide and the resulting tendonitis in the past.
