    Hey guys,

I have a gym class in college which is Cross Training, i need it to get a credit. Unfortunately thats the only gym class that has room

I am currently on Starting Strength and lift every Tuesday , Thursday and Saturday. I have gym class every Monday for 1 hour and 50 minutes or so.

Will it effect my gains or my strength

    Current lifts are at

    Squat 215
    Bench 150
    Deadlift 235
    OHP 105

    Thanks guys.

How are we supposed to know without knowing what you do in the class?

If I were you I'd probably try to shift my schedule to W-F-Su, or even Th-Sa-Mo if you get Monday's workout in before the class.

But really, I'm not sure why you're asking whether the class will affect your lifting if you have no choice in the matter.

It may affect your gains somewhat, depending on how tough the class is and how tough you are. Eat more and sleep well. I'm 44, and play soccer once a week in addition to lifting 3 times a week plus doing GPP once a week. You are (I am assuming) young and healthy and male. You could be out working a heavy physical job (carpentry, furniture moving, farming) instead of sitting on your butt in class all week. Real life doesn't have rest days. You will adapt.

Just don't work out very hard in the class. No one will notice.

+1 to this. Just do light shit. Treat it as a sort of active recovery day.

    What is this Cross-training?

Whatever it is I would go in there and crush the fuck out of the class, make all those college sorostitutes swoon, and keep up SSLP like a boss.

You're fucking young! Live like it! You will adapt.

My 15yo son recently started SS and has a tumbling class once per week.

So far the only interference he's noticed is that he's tending to over-rotate when doing backflips and such, because he's unintentionally jumping higher. Young men have incredible recovery abilities, he's seldom even sore...

I had a blast with gym credits in college :
Walk for fitness , walked around and smoked cigars with a friend
Volleyball: only class that had room in it when I signed up. I never showed up. Passed
Lifting: supposed to train % of body weight for 50 reps on some exercises with a test at the end. Did my own thing. Never got tested. Passed.

College gym credits were a joke
