Is a CGBP as effective as a normal BP, coach Rip?

Assuming the grip is not so close that it is actually inside your shoulder width, is this an issue of competing moment arms? If you minimize the moment art at the elbow by keeping the forearm vertical you increase the moment arm at the shoulder by touching so low?

From my personal perspective, CGBP is MORE effective for general strength acquisition.

I can hardly go about using the most muscle mass over longest effective range of motion with a normal-grip bench if it keeps re-aggravating a shoulder injury.

On another note... it's nice, for once, that the OP has read the book closely enough to raise a question about minutiae like this, though.

Yes, but your questions about the minutia are stupid, and could be answered by reading what you're supposed to have read. I sympathize, because I was once the same way, but it takes up space on the board and I can't have it.

I'll assume you're talking about getting stronger, but correct me if I'm wrong.

If they were, he would probably recommend them instead of normal bench, in that big fancy book of his.
