As far as land and building goes, zoning code is typically on a municipalities website. It is sometimes a little tough to interpret but I dont' have a legal degree and I interact with it successfully on a regular basis in my job. It will outlay everything from parking to business/building type, size etc... pretty much everything you can think of, if those laws are in existence. Some municipalities have very general rules and some are very specific. Also if a loan is being taken out for a building or land many banks will want to have a zoning report as proof that the building/construction is legal conforming to the municipal code.
