I don't see how this extends to leaving a fully stocked air base with no drone defenses & sacrificing conveys of vehicles just for the sake of using up Ukranian ammunitions / slowing down their advance by a matter of hours.

Nuance is important. People who have been riding Putins d this whole time acting like this is business as usual / all going perfectly to plan is just. Not genuine to me.
It's not that it's all going accordingly. It's that Russia has always fought wars of attrition. The problem has always been running out of Ukrainians who can fight.

Gotcha - thanks. Others here are of age, and may speak for themselves, of course, but no, I don't attribute the classic Russian ablation of soil and souls tactic to any sort of Putin mastermind plan. I'd say it's more a matter that Russia has historically been able to get away with all kinds of blunders and a certain careless approach simply because of their geography, size, weather, etc. It's just generally worked that all Russia has to do is wait and stall against any incursion, so they systemically don't have to be as worried about them, or get as excited about them as a smaller country differently situated would be.

So no, it's not like Russia just lets them do what they want until they're worn down, then comes back and whoops them, all Rocky Balboa style. But since they DO have a lot of room to mess up like this, all of the irrational exuberance that Ukraine's push means that Russia is doomed to fall and burn or some such is wishful thinking, to put it mildly.

I still don't anticipate a resolution where Ukraine regains Crimea and returns to where (or what) they were before this all started. This will probably end with a bigger Russia and a smaller Ukraine. Russia will internally be much as it has been all along, and Ukraine will be changed for the foreseeable future. As head of a household with deep personal ties to Ukraine that go back a lot longer than this situation, it pains me to say that, but that does seem to be the way it's heading.

You can bet that every inch of the territory captured by the Ukrainians has been registered for targeting. The Russians have been goading the Ukrainians to split their forces to weaken the defenses in the Donbas. By feinting an incursion towards Sumy, then engaging toward Karkiv the Russians got the Ukrainians to take the bait. Subsequently what looked like an open avenue to Kursk proved to be an overwhelming temptation for NATO, Ukraine once again took the bait further diluting defensive strength in the Donbass. Mission accomplished- Russian progress in the Dombas is now accelerating and the Kursk region has become a killing field where NATO equipment and Ukrainian soldiers will be destroyed. Putin will spare no expense, human or material.

"Our side", the side we are paying for- NATO- is being led by a senile US President, DEI generals, and a cocaine cowboy President of Ukraine. They are no match for Putin.

Underestimating your adversaries is a fatal mistake and no one should underestimate the Russians or Putin.

This is how they will get it done: Alabama SOS Finds 3K Potential Noncitizens Registered To Vote

Allen worked with “other state agencies that collect noncitizen identification numbers” and checked them against voter registrations, Laney Rawls, Allen’s director of communications, told The Federalist. She said Allen has made this a “priority” since taking office in January 2023.

Some of these potential noncitizen voters may have become citizens after initially getting noncitizen ID numbers, according to the release.

Allen’s office will inactivate these registrations and allow those who have since become citizens to update their registration with an Alabama driver’s license number, non-driver ID, or the last four digits of their Social Security number, according to Rawls.

Allen’s office is still working to determine when the noncitizen ID numbers were issued, Rawls said.

The federal government has denied “repeated requests” to help with the investigation, according to the release. Allen began contacting the DHS’s Citizenship and Immigration Services division in November 2023, requesting a list of noncitizens living in Alabama to cross-reference with the state voter file, according to Rawls.

I wish Ukraine had a cocaine cowboy as president.

A good government would produce good propaganda. It would inform you how to be healthy, productive, and spiritually fulfilled. You know, promote happiness.

Of course, if you do this you are "literally Hitler!" Funny how promoting happiness in a European population makes you Hitler. Like the saying goes, If Hitler didn't exist, the Jews would have to invent him. Hell, maybe they did.

OK. I won't disagree with that. Whatever it is, he is not making clear headed smart decisions with the lives of his countryman.

Parvovirus B19, a seasonal respiratory virus that subsided during the pandemic, is making a comeback, U.S. health officials warned Tuesday.

In a health alert issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the agency said it has received reports of higher test positivity rates in recent months: The proportion of people with antibodies indicating recent infection, which fell below 3% from 2022-2024, spiked to 10% in June.

But children between the ages of 5 and 9 were hit particularly hard, with infection rates going from 15% from 2022-2024 to 40% by June 2024.
Parvo is bad cause it kills our dogs, you know.

Parvovirus, also known as "slapped cheek disease" for the facial rash it can cause in children, is considered common: Nearly half of Americans have detectable levels of parvovirus B19 antibodies by age 20, while more than 70% have these antibodies by the age of 40. People in occupations with close contact with children, such as schools and day care centers, tend to be at higher risk of infection, the CDC noted.

As with many other respiratory illnesses, social distancing measures that aimed to slow the spread of COVID during the pandemic also dramatically lowered parvovirus B19 infection rates.

With that came a corresponding loss of immunity to the virus, which has now translated into higher infection rates across the country.
It is important that there be no way to win.

Additionally, profit margins for supermarkets are notoriously thin. Despite Harris’s (and Warren’s) accusations about “excessive corporate profits,” those margins remained relatively meager even when prices surged. The grocery industry’s net profit margins peaked at 3 percent in 2020, falling to 1.6 percent last year. If that sounds high, note that the average net profit margin (what’s left over after expenses) for all public companies nationwide is 8 percent.
