    Might wearing a weighted vest while squatting create a more effective load than squatting alone? I realize the vest wouldn't stress the body in the same proportions as the bar, but it seems possible that the scattered distribution of small weights over the sides, back, chest and waist wouldn't infringe much, (if at all), on what can be lifted on my back.

    How about putting the weighted vest on the bar instead? Yeah, that's the ticket. That way, you get to use a fashionable piece of modern/retro strength and conditioning association/PE-major equipment AND get something actually accomplished at the same time! Be sure to use one vest on each end.

    I like to use my girlfriend's pink 5 lb ankle weights to help keep my feet on the floor when I squat. It really makes the difference when I squat in my 9-ply bench shirt.
