What is your opinion of the DB Snatch. Are there advantages over the hang Snatch?

I worked the single handed version when I had surgery on my right hand. They felt badass and I imagine the would have great shoulder benefits if done consistently.

I would prefer a KB snatch to a DB snatch if you have access to it. I think it's fine conditioning (especially KBs) but certainly not the best exercise for building strength.

DB snatches are idiot-proof to coach...but I've found they're an ineffective waste of time. I simply did not see measurable improvements in strength/power in athletes who used DB snatches instead of hang/power snatches and cleans.

I messed around with them for a bit while working around an elbow problem, didn't get much out of it. I did hang power snatches for a bit before I could power snatch 135. I didn't like that either. It seemed easier to pull them off a block with the bar at normal (with 45s on) height or doing them from a hang starting at that height. Once I used db snatches for a tabata and I was on the ground dry heaving at the end.

I'm probably less explosive than average if that has any relevance.

I am a high School strength Coach. Have done snatch for years. I have a friend who is a Head college strength coach . He was telling me that he has dropped the snatch for the Db snatch,Safety reasons. I was wondering if it produced that same power that the Snatch does?
