Oh, and quickly, before Hurling asks: yes, I did get that the article of which this is a recording was published in Dec. 2015. The terminology subject has been brewing for awhile, I would imagine...

Actually, I don't believe I have used the term "supercompensation" once in the past 10 years. It's a stupid concept.

That's the strongest argument, yet, for its lack of utility. (Plus some color for entertainment.)

Do Drs. Sullivan or Bradford lecture on the cell-level physiological mechanisms underlying strength acquisition? And, if so, would they say the same about the use of the term (i.e., not used in 10 years)? (I'm just fishing for whether there is *some* context in which it might be appropriate -- even if its not needed in describing good training practice.)

But you all know the literature exceedingly well -- I imagine you checked this via a substitution like the one Dr. Sullivan responded with early in this thread, and it must have passed muster... Not sure why it still "tickles" -- just trying to get my own thinking straightened out on the matter (that "tickling" has generally meant something, in my experience -- but that could just be an embedded mistake in my thinking and nothing more -- still nice to discover and eliminate those...).
