Adding a hole to a belt

Recently got my belt in the mail, a 4", 10mm belt. Very nice.

But, it's just a little too big - I need to add a hole. I've searched previous posts, and didn't find anything conclusive on the best way to do it. I certainly don't want to wreck my new belt.

Ideas are:
- Hammer and nail
- Shoe repair shop
- Alterations/Tailor shop
- Drill
- Leather Punch tool
- Do nothing and just wait until I gain 10lbs.

Anyone done this before and know the best way?

I JUST had to do this myself. Much to my chagrin, I gave away my leathercraft tools a few years ago, thinking I'd never need them again. Silly me. I have lost 30 some pounds and had to add a hole to my Best belt, and being the cheap bastard I am, I couldn't justify spending $10 for a hole punch big enough. So I used a 3/8" drill bit with my cordless drill. Worked great, even if the hole looks a little ugly.

If you JUST bought it, would it be that inconvenient to send it back in exchange for a smaller size?

Thank you - that looks like it will work.

(And no, I can't return it - no returns on custom belts due to choosing the wrong size. I did it on purpose, but expected to be bigger by now...)
