    Coach,

I am absolutely confused about my deadlift. I spoke to my O-lifting coach about my hips, and he pretty much said that you just want your shoulders directly over the bar with your arms in line when the bar is on the floor, and when the bar gets to the bottom of the knees, your shoulders should be in front of the bar. If your hips are are higher at the start, you will be in front, and if your hips are lower, you will be behind the bar at the start.

This is a video of my deadlifts from yesterday, and I know my form is all messed up, and a couple of people already told me on the "Technique" forum.

What I am noticing as I re-read the comments, BBT, and think about how I clean/snatch is:

In the video the bar is over my toes and my shoulders a slightly behind the bar and the bar is traveling backwards as I'm bringing it to my knees (instead of straight up). Is that a correct analysis?

Am I correct in saying that this would be solved by bringing the bar over the mid-foot like was recommended in BBT and the "Technique" forum and making sure my shoulders are over the bar? Will this set my hips at the right height? I know I need to focus more on keeping my back arched.

    Thanks.

Yes, it is true that if you place the bar over your mid-foot it will no longer be over your toes.

I am going to go out on a limb here and gamble that Rip will recommend the technique he advocates in his book...
