    Rip,

is there any particular brand or model of powerlifting or weightlifting shoes you would recommend for your five core lifts?

    Cheers

I can't think of one. I don't think much about shoes, they're just not that important. I can't think of a single time when I've even discussed this before, because it has just not been on my mind, ever really. So no, just use running shoes, or high-heels, or doc martins, or swim fins, because shoes just aren't that FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKK.

I like Buster Browne's myself. YMMV.

That wasn't the impression I had got from Starting Strength, where you say, "Weightlifting shoes are the most important personal equipment a lifter can own" (2nd ed, p 61).

Is there anything else in there that just isn't that fucking important?

I'm sure someone on this board has seen someone doing curls in a power rack wearing swim fins. It's so crazy that it must have happened somewhere.

So it seems like that while lifting doesn't raise one's blood pressure, answering questions about lifting does.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Mark's frustration may be a result of being asked about this once or twice.
A quick google search of "lifting shoes" site:startingstrength.com returns about 714 results. How to do this is mentioned in the second sticky at the top of the page.

A search of the "Mark Rippetoe Q&A" forum (advanced search- Search Single Content Type-Keyword "Shoes" - Title only - Additional Options, Mark Rippetoe Q&A) returns 47 results with the word shoes in the title on this specific forum.

Then there are some shoes that someone did a little work on.

"This is the only shoe on the market with a .5" heel - specifically made for the Starting Strength program and the lifts involved."

Its really not a reaction directly to you specifically but you might see why being asked about this repeatedly is probably (undeniably) frustrating.
