I've had previous back injuries, and my back pain flared up this weekend. I try to hold a hard valsalva throughout all my lifts, but today I was extra cautious in doing so. 222lbx5x3 was my plan for squats today. Coming up on the 3rd rep of my 1st set, my eyesight in my right eye was very much fucked. It happened instantly; a brown/black hazy thing with darker strands and small dots filled my right eye. It floats around when I look around, kinda looks like a weird jellyfish. I have experienced no pain whatsoever. 4 hours later and it has reduced. I am going to the doctors to get it checked up, but I was curious if you've heard of this before, and if I should continue using a hard valsalva?

    Thank you

Sounds like a vitreous hemorrhage possibly from a retinal tear. He should get checked by a vitreoretinal specialist.

The hospital have told me I am lucky and that it's not serious - I got the opinion of 2 doctors . I don't have the exact diagnosis with me, but I heard them talking about hemorrhage of an artery and that it was a small one in the corner of my eye. I have been told not to lift for 6 weeks. And they are checking up on me in 2 weeks time.

I'm confused at how to approach my training from now on; the set I did that injured my eye felt very heavy, and my head was shaking intensely. Usually when It feels this heavy I stop, and decide it's a recovery issue, eat more, and then repeat. Ive stalled on 231lbx5x3 for the second time now, I have tried eating/sleeping more, dropping weight by 10% and going up again slowly, but I cant get past it without shitty form. All my other lifts have stalled at the same time, I've trained for 7 months and progress has been linear. Should I change programming? Should I let out a small breath of air from now on? I'm worried i'll hurt my back again, as I have a shit load of back injuries.

    Thanks.

Just curious, between the first time you stalled, and the second time, how much more do you weigh now, than you did then?
