Squat check
Hi there,
I'd be really glad if someone could give me some advice on my squat form.
I can't seem to keep my lower back straight for the whole duration of the squat. Seems like I'm losing a bit of tension when going back up, even though I'm trying to push out my knees.
Any pointers?
A bit of background info:
- I'm 21 years old; 180cm (5'11''); 78kg (172lbs)
- I'm squatting 100kg (220lbs) in the video; max weight was 112,5kg (248lbs)
- I have severe flexibility issues with my legs, as in I can't extend my legs completely (always slightly bent at the knee) and can't touch my toes; I'm trying to improve on my flexibility by stretching daily

Thanks in advance

Narrow your stance a touch. Drop your elbows a little and keep your wrists straight. Strongly consider the purchase of a 7-foot long barbell and some weightlifting shoes. You have just a touch of unlocking in the low back. I probably would have missed it had you not pointed it out. Your problem is not flexibility. You are plenty flexible to squat. Your problem is that you don't stay tight enough. Shoes will help a little with this. Take a big breath in at the top and squeeze everything. Don't let go.
