    Default DL check

My second run at LP. I've been making 10# jumps until last weeks 345 was too grindy, so I switched to 5# jumps starting this week.

Even then, I failed my 5th rep, surprisingly. There were some other factors that could have played in, but I would like to get a check to see if my form is causing issues.

I could feel me losing my lumbar on the failed rep. When I fail, I usually can't break it off the floor - so this was different.

    Thanks for looking:

These look pretty good. I think you could get tighter before you pull. The bar "clicks" as you start to pull. Squeeze your chest up, make sure the slack that causes that "click" is gone, then stand up. That should get you tight enough.

Definitely looking good. Looked to me like you could have ground it out and got that last rep. Perhaps the eccentric was a bit too slow and that left you without enough gas in the tank.

I took the liberty of poking through your video a little bit and have the following observation. The first 4 reps are very similar in terms of body positioning, but on the last rep your shoulders and chest are further back by an inch or two. This might have messed up your lift mechanics enough to not let you finish it off.

This is a freeze frame of the last rep compared the first rep

And here is the whole video with an overlay of the point where the first rep left the floor.

So maybe I'd say a bit of form breakdown on the last rep of a heavy set of 5.

    Solid lifting, nice work.

    Wow. That was awesome! Thanks.

Great find - I see exactly what you mean. I'll be sure to keep my set up the same as things get blurry.

I'm really not seeing any significant form breakdown on any reps. I still maintain you could have got that last rep. You had the form, you had the strength, just couldn't quite make yourself use it. I'm sure you'll find the ability to grind through a heavy rep develops over time just like everything else does.
