I marvel at the bar speed Ray can generate on the squat and deadlift. Do you think this guy is probably the strongest, most explosive SHW to come along in a generation?

Not that familiar with the sport these days. Maybe. He be a better squatter if he stayed in his hips.

Even with less than perfect technique he was able to set a WR in the squat. If saw what you saw, I think on 1st and 3rd attempts he got out of his hips and lifted his chest at the end. Did I get that right?

Were he a novice, how would you feel about his deadlift stance?

    It's too wide.

I'd tend to agree, but I don't know how well he'd fit with a narrower stance. I think he could benefit from bringing it it some, but that's just my guess.

Toes out/knees out would enable a narrower stance. You and I could help him, Herbs.

Rip, I know you get all kinds of interview requests, but I think an interview with him would be very interesting. It would be interesting know how he approaches training and how he approaches training other athletes as he alludes to doing in the video.

The ultimate would be you and him on the platform discussing the mechanics of the squat, DL, and bench. But I'm dreaming on that one.

You may be surprised to find that a lot of powerlifters (and other strength athletes) are not experts in the mechanics of the lifts they perform.
